The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

June 18, 2014 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

The Rosie Project has been reviewed a few times on Cannonball Read, so I’ll see if I can add anything new. Like most of those who read it, I thought it was a really cute, funny story. I read the whole thing in a day, and just loved it. I am kind of disappointed that a sequel appears to be in the works — seems unnecessary! “But I’m not good at understanding what other people want.’ ‘Tell me something I don’t know,’ said Rosie for […]

Rosie + Don Forever

March 21, 2014 by scootsa1000 Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of CBR buzz about The Rosie Project, a fun story about finding love. Don Tillman is a genetics professor somewhere in Australia. He is 39 years old and single. He’s in great shape (he does martial arts, he runs, he bikes, he eats well), and he is a pretty good cook. On paper, he’s a great catch. But. Don is also extraordinarily meticulous. This was adorable, and surprisingly insightful. Of course, I’m always susceptible to books that feature socially challenged individuals, especially ones that are male, so there was probably no way I wasn’t going to like this book. I’m glad to say that not only did I like it, I very very much liked it, and I can’t wait to see the movie version (also written by Simsion — actually, I believe the script came first, and then he wrote the novel). A lot of people have […]

In case you have forgotten how joyous it is to literally laugh out loud

January 26, 2014 by AskImagine Leave a Comment

I am shortly relocating from NYC to Seattle, and last weekend, I flew to Seattle to find a place to live. Finding a place to live in three days is stressful, and it doesn’t help that the flight from NYC to Seattle is six hours, so The Rosie Project turned out to be the perfect book. This book is laugh-out-loud funny yet generous towards its characters, while maintaining a sharp wit.
