This book was reviewed by both narfna and Fiat.Luxury who both raved about it. I can see why after reading it! It will absolutely be going on my list of Swiss Army recommendations list. I think most readers would like it, if not love it.
Genre: Family drama with a little science fiction and mystery thrown in
Read this if you loved: Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng or All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders
In a nutshell: Ada is a brilliant child being raised by her eccentric and also brilliant father, David. David works as an academic research in computer science developing an artificial intelligence. Ada doesn’t go to school, instead she is immersed in David’s world who treats her more like an adult than a child. His friends are her friends and she’s more at home with adults than children her own age. When David starts to develop Alzheimer’s, Ada is adrift in a world she doesn’t know. Compounding matters, it turns out she didn’t know David and his past as well as she thought she did.
The writing: Liz Moore has a wonderful writing style. The writing is beautiful, but it’s not distracting. The beauty facilitates the story in the best way possible
The characters: By the end of this novel I felt like I really knew the characters. Moore made them real, even the more secondary characters had rich lives and personalities.
Should you read this? Yes! Absolutely yes! Do yourself a favor :)
