Ok…this one has done it for me – no more zombie books. I was never really a fan of the genre – rotting shamblers don’t do it for me the way that sexy vampires can. And this book ….oy… what was I thinking? I heard about it from the IO9 Book club – and I really respect IO9. Guess I didn’t read enough of the comments or perhaps did but disregarded them. Kill the Dead – Sandman Slim does zombies
Sandman Slim is back; this time with Zombies, Lucifer, Hollywood moguls, Men in Black and Brigitte – a Czech Porn Star Zombie hunter. Second in the series; if you didn’t read “Sandman Slim” – full stop – go get it, read it, come back and continue. We start with Stark working as a monster hunter for hire. He may have returned from “downtown” (Hell) and saved the world, but that was last week. Now he is broke and reduced to working for the “Golden […]
Wickedly fun LA Gothic Noir – Sandman Slim
Sandman Slim – I LOVE this book! – brilliant, dark, witty, sharp, dirty, irreverent and hilarious. The first of a series -although this book stands on its own. However, I dare you after reading it to not want to grab the next one in the series! I have read the hard copy 2X and listened to the Audible version 2X. The narrator on Audible has a wonderfully raspy delivery – snarky and hilarious and totally rude. Love it. “Dark and dirty ass masterpiece” […]

I love this book – read it a couple times, listened to the Audible version – so yeah – I’m a fan. Ok here goes: combine one out of work web designer, a mysterious bookstore, a secret society, Google, Hadoop, encrypted messages and cute Data Visualization girl from Google and you have Mr Penumbra’s 24 bookstore. This book actually uses Hadoop as a plot point! So cool for us geeky data types. It is a little “San Francisco techie hipster” so maybe it […]
