I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too!

Unreliable narrators are my favorite!

One of my coworkers let me borrow this book.  She walked up to me and said “do you want to read this?”, and just looking at the cover, I knew the answer was yes!  It looked a little creepy, a little murdery, and a lot interesting.  She told me she read it in 3 days, but because it was an actual book, it took me a little while to get started.  I’m a big ebook reader, just because I do my best reading in my […]

The Twelve by Justin Cronin

The title leads you to believe it’s about the virals, but it’s really about the humans

Ok so this is the second book of the Passage trilogy.  I thought I just made the name of the trilogy up, but then I looked at the title on Amazon (which I copied and pasted into here), and it’s totally called that.  Yay me!  Like I say in my review title above, the book is more about the people dealing with the twelve “master virals” (I definitely made that title up).  The goal of most of the main characters in this book is to […]

Apparently I skipped reviewing this one?

I was just comparing my Goodreads total with my CBR10 total, and I was missing a book on CBR.  THAT WILL NOT DO!  Don’t worry, I figured it out, it’s obvs this book.  I think I just read like four Joe Dillard books in a row, and this one got left by the wayside (is that the saying?) So, this is the second to last Joe Dillard book!  I believe I liked it.  I can’t actually remember right this second.  The summer is melting my […]

The end of the Joe Dillard series

July 2, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So this is the last book of the Joe Dillard series.  I’m torn about it, because it covers two very important topics.  It tackles race in the South, including false accusations against black men, the Klan, and racism by police.  I feel like this topic is covered well, but I’m white, live in the North, and have never had to deal with racism directed at myself (due to being white).  The other topic is sexual assault.  Here’s where things get sticky.  I know that every […]
