Polyesque is many things. A polyamorous, panromantic writer, singer, burlesque dancer, actress, and activist. Ze is the former Artistic/Programming Director for Jeff Mach Events, which produces Wicked Faire, the Steampunk World's Faire, the Geeky Kink Events, and co-produces Dark Side of the Con in conjunction with Vampire Freaks. As Femme Fae la Butche, ze co-founded the White Elephant Burlesque Society in 2006 with Viktor Devonne and co-directed it with him for six years. As zerself, ze directed the premiere of Jeff Mach's play "Seeds" in 2011. Zir YA short stories have been commissioned and published in an online magazine, and zir first published erotica short story can be found in the first annual Geeky Kink Anthology by Riverdale Ave Books. Aside from writing, ze has an abiding affection for learning, leather, tea, reading, snow, driving, laughter, fountain pens, cuddling, chocolate, musicals, hiking, Harry Potter, rose flogging, knives, kayaking, sensation play, candles, and long, intimate conversations about sex, poly, kink, and gender. Polyesque lives in New Jersey with her nesting partner and two kitties and has previously lived as part of an intentional polycule down South. (Yes, really). Ze is currently reorganizing her life and is looking forward to CB10 as a way to read and write more and hopefully connect with more readers and writers.

Lies, love, and facing reality

June 19, 2018 by Polyesque Leave a Comment

It’s Juneteenth, which makes an incredibly appropriate day to review Lies We Tell Ourselves by Robin Talley. This book was on my radar since it first came out in 2014, but it took a wee bit of time to actually find time to read it. (Seriously, on this site, I know I’m not the only one who’s reading list is longer than the time I’ll ever possibly have to read over the course of my entire life…) What first drew me in was that the […]

YA Lesbian and Trans Love From All The Angles

June 18, 2018 by Polyesque Leave a Comment

I’d been wanting to read this compilation of lesbian YA short stores from Julie Anne Peters for a few years and so I was very excited when I discovered a copy in my country library collection. As a fan of Peters for a while, since I love how she draws me into believable worlds of lesbian and trans teen characters with humor, warmth, and great writing, this book didn’t disappoint. In fact, it went beyond my expectations in terms of variety. Without going into spoilers […]

Helpful, accessible sales tips in one handy-dandy little red book

March 23, 2018 by Polyesque Leave a Comment

I never thought I’d be reading a sales book, let alone be on my second one this year and have three more in the queue waiting to be read. But then again, life is under no obligation to give us what we expect. It all started with a career change from being and Artistic/Programming Director for a small Event company on the East coast to selling mattresses. That was not the career move I had planned on, but it’s what presented itself and I needed […]

First love, gender, and other complicated things

March 8, 2018 by Polyesque Leave a Comment

Sometimes, a random internet search leads you to some awesome places. One night two weeks ago, I was in the library. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to read, so I did a search for Southern Lesbian fiction. There were no new Rita Mae Brown books (that weren’t fox or cat related) and most of titles the query returned, the library didn’t have. (I know, shocking that a fairly conservation, Northern NJ, small-town library wasn’t overflowing with Southern Lesbian lit, right?) However, they did […]
