What is Better than Mommy and Daddy Love?

December 28, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

What is better than mommy love? Two books about how awesome moms are (and for good measure one dad, too). My Mommy Medicine given to us by Edwidge Danticat and illustrated by Shannon Wright (due late February 2019) talks about when a little girl wakes up not feeling well she and her mom can do all sorts of things to make her feel better. Sometimes it is hugs, reading, taking naps, drinking hot chocolate or tea, telling stories, dancing and sometimes real medicine. Based on […]

December 28, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Bearnard’s Book is a bit obvious to the adult reader what Bearnard’s book is going to be about, but Deborah Underwood draws the reader into the story showing the things it might be about. When Bearnard researches books about bears he learns they float, have porridge stolen and are messy. They have fun going around the track, having adventures and finally, end their day curled up in their dens. Kathryn Dennis has a simplistic story and art to make your toddler want to go on their own train trip. The thing that makes Snakes on a Train accessible to people who do not like snakes is the fact that the […]

Not only is it the Darkest, it’s also the slowest…

December 28, 2018 by TheShitWizard Leave a Comment

Having taken a couple of weeks to slog through Darkest Hour, I’m starting to see where my rating knocked off a couple of stars in my first read through, as the breakneck pace of World’s End came almost to a complete halt, and our ‘heroes’ screwed up yet more things in their fight to save humanity. World’s End saw Church, Veitch, Shavi, Ruth and Laura summon the Tuatha De Danaan to help them to defeat the Fomorii, only to discover that once the Tuatha were […]
