Some good ideas, but the execution could use some work

I get early reviewer lists every month from LibraryThing, and I got the chance to read and review The Portal & The Experiment: Two Novellas of Suspense by Lynn L. Clark.  I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review. The Portal Our main character Emily has inherited an antique shop from her mother, who recently passed away.  In searching for more stock for the shop, she acquires a tiger-stripe desk with a mirror. Once back in the shop, she thinks […]

Murderbot is on a mission. A mission of vengeance. He’s* determined to bring the corporation GrayCris as much pain as possible, and has a plan to do it. Murderbot is life. Murderbot is love. Just kidding. If Murderbot saw me talking about Murderbot like this, Murderbot would be appalled. Murderbot is all about not dealing with feelings at all costs. Which is too bad, because as a newly free […]

Murderbot needs a blankie!

I was so charmed by this little novella. People (including our very own emmalita) have been giving it great reviews, but I don’t normally get very emotionally involved in shorter pieces of fiction. I was emotionally involved with this one after about fifteen pages. All Systems Red is the first novella of four (the rest set to be released by the end of the year) in the Murderbot Diaries series. Our narrator is Murderbot. He calls himself that ironically. In reality, he is a SecUnit, an […]
