The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey

I Believe the Zombie Children Are Our Future

March 21, 2017 by Gracey the Giant 2 Comments

Or, at the very least, they are the future in M.R. Carey’s book, The Girl With All the Gifts. The book is about Melanie, zombie child extraordinaire. She’s being held, along with several other (albeit less extraordinary) zombie children, at a research facility in England.  At the facility, they attend classes, eat grubs and occasionally get dissected, all in the name of science.  Dr. Caldwell does the dissecting, and Helen Justineau does the teaching. The Last Thing That Pandora Found

August 28, 2016 by Jenny S Leave a Comment

As post-apocalyptic zombie-infested horror novels go, I thought this was a well-crafted and well-paced read that both made me tense and made me sad.  There are faint echoes of The Passage here with a young girl with a foot in both worlds (human and not human) though, unless I missed it, this particular zombie plague was not brought about by scientific hubris (though there is a lot of scientific hubris in this story). Teen Romance VS A Zombie Uprising

March 14, 2015 by chettsgenie Leave a Comment

‘Journal of the Undead: Littleville Uprising’ is the story of twins Emma and Matt as they move to Littleville and try to fit in. As it turns out they will soon have more to worry about than typical teenage high school dramas as a zombie uprising is on the horizon.   I got very easily engrossed in this book right from the beginning – this is an entertaining read with no filler, and it’s very character focused, which I love! I’ve been less impressed by […]

I Would Totally NOT Kick Ass in a Zombie Apocalypse

March 11, 2015 by Melina Leave a Comment

So…the other night I started reading this book based on my mom’s recommendation and she was right, I was immediately sucked in. So much so in fact, that in the middle of the night I woke my husband up (I’m not exactly sure that I was fully awake, since I do sleep walk and talk) and told him to get “all the guns out” and that I was going to pack a kit for us and the kids. Flabbergasted, he watched as I peered out […]
