This is a little unfair, but indulge me:
What if Ron Weasley had defeated Voldemort? And Hermoine didn’t come into the picture until they were adults? And Harry was gay and fell in love with Draco Malfoy?
Oh, and instead of all white* main characters, there were characters of color? Instead of only confirming** Dumbledore’s sexuality after the fact, it was right there in the text?
These are fundamentally fan-fiction-y questions, so if fan fiction*** is your bag, then you are probably going to love this book. This book is suitable for pretty much all ages. It’s light, fun, and even when things get dark, there’s a wink and a smile to the writing. It feels right next door to Harry Potter in the way that Harry Potter feels right down the street from most of the English/fantasy canon.

Oooh, that sounds delightful,* I’m going to check it out ASAP. Great review!
*I mean, I would prefer if Hermione were the one to save the world** but whatever.
**In a much more “gets the credit for it” way than happened in the Harry Potter books. Because if the internet has taught us anything, it’s that Hermione>>>>>>Harry.
Oh, if someone wants to write a re-telling where Hermoine leaves Harry and Ron in the dust and figures the whole thing out like second year, I’m ALL for that. ;)
I’m intrigued!
Hmmmm, I am intrigued. Putting this on the TBR!
Interesting. I’m going to have to check this out. Thanks for reviewing it.
