A Sweet Little Read

September 14, 2015 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

I completely missed reviewing this book when I completed it a couple of weeks ago, which is a shame because it was a good read from an author that I’m really liking right now. So my apologies to Marisa de los Santos — your book is definitely worth a review! Love Walked In is definitely fluff, but it’s well-written fluff starring a couple of impressive ladies, so I highly recommend it to people who enjoy that sort of thing!

“There’s a kind of holiness to love, requited or not, and those people who don’t receive it with gratitude are arrogant beyond saving.”

Cornelia Brown, a coffee shop waitress who finds herself floundering after finishing college, falls head over heels for Martin Grace when he first walks in her door. She’s got a thing about old movies, and he looks just like Cary Grant — enough so that she finds herself able to ignore some…faults in his characters. Meanwhile, we also meet 11 year old Claire Hobbs, whose mother seems to be slowly losing her mind. Claire’s a tough young lady, and very smart, but even she knows that things can’t go on like this.

Of course the two characters meet (in a way that surprised me, but shouldn’t have) and warm fuzzies ensue. This is my third book by Marisa de los Santos, and while I enjoyed the plot of this one and Precious One much more than Falling Together, all three books are elevated from mere romance/chick lit by the strength of her writing — particularly the way she invents characters that I just fall in love with. Apparently there’s a sequel to this one — I can’t wait to spend some more time with these people.
