Well, here it is. My eagerly anticipated (by absolutely no one) review for Oddly Normal: Book 3!
Chapter 11:
There are sports! And peer pressure! We get to see a wide variety of Fignation’s residents in the spectator section. And I noticed that Oopie looks quite regal when it is not talking.
Chapter 12:
And now, a pod race! On brooms! In orange! I do appreciate how much emotion is conveyed through the cat in this and the next chapter. It is a counterpart to Oopie as a familiar, and plays a significantly smaller role, yet the attention to detail and cat-like behavior is still awesome!
Chapter 13:
In which Oopie is the best thing ever. And has fun sound effects. Oddly and her friends also learn some hard-to-swallow truths. (And I appreciate that Oddly has awful helmet hair when she removes her helmet!) Looking back on when some of the spectators were in color versus where they are in an orange pallet here, I feel like one of them is trying to sell me a used car here…
Chapter 14:
Oh, man. Shit is getting real. We’re getting to the final boss, and it’s bad news. And our baddie is very deliciously bad. Intelligent and pretty villains usually are. Why do you think so many people are a fan of Loki?
Chapter 15:
This is a very heavy chapter. I do like how I actually understand most, if not all, the references that are made, though! (I know “It’s Only A Paper Moon” from researching music for a play – I wonder where Mr. Frampton knows it from? I didn’t realize it was that popular a song!) And Auntie Oddly, awesome as she is, uses the “I know what’s best” line without explaining anything. So, things are going to go wrong somewhere involving that, too.
So we have reached what feels like the ending of our first main story arc. We are left with some answers, but also more questions. And as always, we are left wondering: what comes next?
A note for Otis Frampton: I believe I would be extremely disappointed if anything were to happen to Oopie. And we know how powerful belief is, don’t we? (*Stares menacingly at the screen…*)
You are correct about Loki, that is all I have to add.
