Our Cannonballers love a chance to express their opinions, and therefore we will be reading The Devourers by Indra Das for our Fantasy Book Club meeting on March 8, 2017.
This time it was a neck and neck race between The Devourers and All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders, but about halfway through the voting period Das’ novel took the lead (for those that are curious, His Majesty’s Dragon, Steelheart, and Roses and Rot rounded out the voting, but all were distant to the first two). While I always want as many people to read our selections as possible, I also hope that if your vote wasn’t our final choice, that you’ll make the time to read both at some point during Cannonball Read 9. I’ll be posting a Discussion Topics post two weeks before our discussion as a reminder to finish up and food for thought. I’m actually happy this won even though I didn’t vote for it, because I probably would have never picked it up on my own.
I’m really happy this won, because it’s been on my TBR list for a while and seems a bit less stereotypical than a lot of the fantasy I read. It will fit nicely with quite a few of my other reading challenges as well.
I’m thinking it’ll take care of at least one, if not two boxes for me on the Read Harder challenge. And it sounds good to boot!
Yes, I think it is going to get a few things ticked off on my Book Riot challenge. I made an interlibrary loan request, so hopefully makes it on time!
