Circus of Inhumans

March 14, 2017 by Julie Leave a Comment

magic for nothingYes, it’s book six in a series.  You can probably go out and read the first five books before reading this one, but since this one takes a turn with a new character, Antimony Price, the youngest member of the Price siblings, you might be able to just read it on its own.  Antimony is the younger sister, and the aimless one who has not found a vocation or career, and is still living at home with her parents.  But that all changes when her sister Verity calls out the evil Covenant of St George in the previous book, and Antimony is asked by her family to try to sneak into the Covenant to gain intel on their moments in the US.

There were glimpses of Antimony in previous books through her brother and sister’s eyes, and also I read some of the short stories about her on Seanan’s website.  But it was really great to see her in action.  A lot of her skill set involves doing circus tricks, knife throwing, and wanting nothing more than having a “normal” life in a family that is anything but.

So this book got delivered on a Tuesday night to my Kindle, around 9 pm, and I pretty much tore threw it in a couple of days.  Seanan knows how to pace a book just right where there’s plenty of character development, with sympathetic interesting characters, but also the plot keeps moving.  Each book of the InCryptid series introduces more species of humanoid creatures, and expands the world they live in.

The plot ends well but there is enough left hanging in Antimony’s life that makes me eagerly await the sequel which will undoubtedly be published next year!
