Ignore the terrible puns — it’s really pretty good

April 5, 2017 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

More YA! Can you tell I recently went on a trip? YA gets me through the airport and onto the plane without losing my mind. Thank you, YA!

This was a sweet and funny story about a girl who has literally done nothing but be a ballerina her entire life. Now, just short of graduating high school, she has discovered that it’s not something she can do for the rest of her life. In a panic over a ballet (and also a boy, because this is a young adult novel), she basically lies her way onto a helicopter and ends up at the South Pole at a research station. The book alternates between her current status, hibernating in the Arctic, and the previous months during which she fell in love with a boy and broke up with dance (or rather, watched it break up with her). It’s a really good book, although I doubt I’ll remember much of it six months. It was definitely the perfect thing to read on a plane.
