Who is the kind worth killing?

July 3, 2017 by kfishgirl 2 Comments

I listened to this as an audiobook, and once again the voice talent elevated the story. There were actually four separate actors that read this story. People kept dying, so two narrators had to be replaced ?.

The story starts out with two people meeting at an airport bar in London. Their flight back to Boston was postponed, so they started drinking and talking. Ted, our main character is some sort of business guy that just found out his wife is cheating on him with his contractor. He’s building a huge fancy house in Maine, and his wife (who didn’t work) is directing the construction and decoration. Ted and Lily decide that Ted’s wife needs to be killed. They actually decide that she’s THE KIND WORTH KILLING. I’m so cheesy because I love it when the book title comes up in the actual book.

So the rest of the first third of the story is about Lily and Ted plotting. Then something totally unexpected (by me) happens that turns everything upside down. I think I was slack jawed in the car when I heard this thing happen. It’s important, and I want you all to read this, so I’m not gonna spoil it.

The second third is basically Lily’s back story. She was fascinating to me. As she put it at one point, she was born with a different kind of morality. We learn about her first murder, and then what led up to her second murder, and then not even shockingly at that point, her third murder.

Another interesting event occurs, and we’re a little twisted again. I don’t think I’ve ever rooted for a murderer before, but I did in this book. I was actually cool with her different type of morality. Anyway, I loved this book, and I recommend it to any murder mystery fan!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»

I’ve had this on my reading list for a long time, but was just sort of “mehhhh” about it so never got around to actually reading it, but this review has changed my mind! I’ll be reading it soon!

I’d definitely go the audioboook route if I were you!
