This Cinderella story is super cute. It’s told from two perspectives: Danielle/Elle and Darien. Elle lives with her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. Darien starred in a teen soap and is about to take his first major movie role as Carmindor in a remake of the sci fi show Starfield. Elle and her father used to watch Starfield together, and he even created a convention for the show, ExcelsiCon. She is less than pleased that Darien was cast in the iconic role, and writes a fairly scathing review on her blog, Rebelgunner.

Darien’s dad schedules him to appear at ExcelsiCon. This brings up some bad memories, so he tries to cancel by calling one of the contacts on the con’s website. The contact was Elle’s father, and she still has his phone. She basically tells him to man up, thinking he’s some random cosplayer. They start to text back and forth, and their banter starts a romance. Of course, Elle doesn’t know she’s really texting Darien Freeman, and Darien doesn’t know he’s really texting the author of Rebelgunner.
