January 22, 2018 by ingres77 9 Comments

I’m still alive!

Almost three weeks into CBR10, and I’ve finally updated the data for both December and CBR9. This year end post won’t be as…..long as last years, but I think the information is presented better.

12. Caitlin_D (389)
13. Valyruh (364)
14. Travis_J_Smith (362)
15. Lollygagger (350)

Just outside the top 15: Caitlin (335), ElCicco (320) and emmalita (270)

I have Goodreads data on 86% of reviews, sex info on 97% of authors, and the nationality on 82% of authors.

I’m still, of course, in the process of going back through CBR3-5, along with various blogs for CBR1 and 2, not to mention the Pajiba reviews section of the mothership (though, I’ve only done a handful). I think I’ve got the total review counts for CBR4-9 (though I haven’t logged each review yet), and I’ve got most of CBR3 done. So my all time ranking is, I think, fairly accurate. Big changes to look forward to: badkittyuno might catch Malin this year (nearly 30 reviews in October!), bonnie and narfna are racing for 3rd on the all-time list, could vel veeter crack the top 5 in his first year?!, and Caitlin, Lollygagger, and ElCicco are in a race for who is going to round out the top 15! (Lollygagger leapfrogged Caitlin this month).

*My tentative user totals for CBR1-9 show that nearly 25k reviews have been written by the community to help raise money to fight cancer. I’ve catalogued roughly 69% of our reviews.
**Malin was gracious enough to go back through her blog and make it easier to search and count her reviews. I noticed a discrepancy in my counts compared to hers. I haven’t had the time to update her career review total – but I will. And I do appreciate all the hard work she put into helping us out in this.
***My review totals may differ slightly from the “official” numbers due to errors I made in updating my data, or errors users make in countering their reviews.

I can absolutely see why this job is exhausting – you do such a comprehensive job of it. Thank you so much, I always find these posts interesting.

2018 will almost certainly be the year when Badkittyuno finally overtakes me as the top reviewer of all time, as motherhood is already making me read less, before the baby has even arrived. My husband suggested I review every book I read to the baby throughout the year, though, no matter how inane, and if I do that, I may have a chance of competing with some of the heavy-weights after all. :D

Badkitty is bowing out for cbr10 although I totally think books you read to the baby should count

I just wanna crack the Top10! So close! Thanks for all you do Ingres

        Oh no!

We all need a break. Hope she’s able to rejoin for CBR 11.

Oh, I hope she’s ok. I can totally see the need to get a break, though, especially with the volumes she’s been reading and reviewing.

We shall see what I do about the children’s books. I can barely write a comment that isn’t about 250 words, so I shouldn’t really have a problem writing about very basic children’s books either. My main worry this year isn’t really that I won’t be able to read (because what else am I going to do when nursing all the time), it’s that I won’t have the time or head space to review. I’ve only signed up for a quarter Cannonball this year, my lowest goal ever.

My wife and I had our kid in my first year (CBR 7). I think I only got 20 something books read that year. For CBR8, it ticked up substantially. I’ve wanted to set a positive example, so I read in while he’s playing.

With badkitty out this year, vel veeter might be the one who passes you.

Yes, that seems extremely likely, considering the amount he read and reviewed last year.

You are a wizard, ingres77! Thanks for all your hard work. I think it’s funny that we doubled our number of reviews in December – all of us scrambling to hit our goals!
