It doesn’t look like I’ll be reading anything other than Kate Daniels for a while…

March 26, 2018 by TheShitWizard 4 Comments

I’m having a lot of fun reading the Kate Daniels series, so much so that I’ve just gone and bought the rest of the series, and I’m ploughing straight on into Magic Bleeds where we find Kate pissed when Curran doesn’t show up to the home-cooked and served in underwear dinner that she’d promised. Which is how, instead of snogging a werelion, she finds herself instead investigating a bar fight which has led not only to a shapeshifter fatality but also an explosion of supernatural disease. And that’s just for starters, as it soon becomes apparent that a Big Bad is stalking Atlanta and building themselves a supernatural posse with which to wipe out the Pack.

Bringing more of Kate’s history into play – having put her familial origins on the radar with her actions at the climax of Magic Strikes, Kate is now reaping the consequences – it feels like we’re starting to build more towards the bigger picture, successfully raising the stakes and with even the window dressing becoming more satisfying as more of Atlanta’s supernatural society is revealed to us with each book.

I’m also continuing to enjoy the evolving dynamics of Kate’s relationship with Curran, even if he’s not my particular cup of tea, as well as how that relationship affects the rest of Kate’s life. And with her now having taken the step of telling The Order to shove their job where the sun don’t shine, thanks to their worldview being incompatible with hers, I’m even more interested to see where we’re going to go from here.

Onto the next!

This is secretly (not so secretly) my favorite book of the series. Erra as a villain brings an extra energy to the series. The scene where they are having tea has some of the best dialogue in the series.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Erra too. I think my favourite so far was the gladiator one though (I can’t keep the titles straight for reading them mostly back to back)

I love many things about this series, but the titles isn’t one of them. I can never keep them straight either, and I have been reading them for years.
