Backyard Fairies

June 12, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

Backyard Fairies is more of a 4.5 rating as I would have liked “something else” (though I am not sure exactly what that would be. Perhaps I would have liked it to be a tad bit longer. I do enjoy the illustrations as they are unique. They have a realistic quality but in a slight unrealistic way. The contradiction of this does make them slightly magical.

Phoebe Wahl has been the girl in this story. I would also go as far to say, that she still is the curious girl in this story. Her author blurb does metnion she still finds unusual looking rocks when she is out and about. But then again, who among us has not seen that odd troll looking stone sitting there? And who has not seen that flitter of something out of the corner of our eye? Or heard some unexplainable laughter?

Can you find the fairies and other magical creatures on each page? Some are hidden and some are obvious. But unlike the little girl in the story, you will not be one step behind the fairies and their friends.

This is a book for people of all ages. Do you like magic, fairies and other mystical creatures? This is for you. Have you gone looking for these same said beings? Then this book is for you. It can be a read-aloud or a quiet sit down and read by the older reader.

Doing a bit of research, I noticed Wahl has a few other titles and Sonya’s Chickens and The Little Gardener look like delightful treats as well.
