Party On, Princess!

July 6, 2018 by BlackRaven Leave a Comment

I like knowing that if I recommend a book to a child there will be other books by the author. Or in this case, more in a series. Party Time Book One in the Puppy Princess series combines two things that will tickle the fancy of some readers: puppies and princesses.

Party Time is the story of a young puppy princess who just does not want to be proper, behave and take baths. And especially does not want to wear pink ribbons in her fur. She wants to roll in mud, bounce on the bed with her brothers and have fun. So, when her chance of escaping the palace life presents itself, off goes our heroine! In the world outside the palace walls, Princess Rosie finds many adventures. No, she does not slay dragons or have puppy-girl power in the modern sense, but her adventures include helping, solving problems, learning about friendship and learning what it means to be a true puppy princess.

Yes, it has traditional themes, but recalls some of today’s television show such as Princess Sophia, Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures and Elena of Avalor that mix classic “girl story” with a modern twist. Even though they are talking dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and more, this is a realistic story with no magic, just every day going ons like your child would have.

Reviews of the books liken this new chapter book series to the series Puppy Pirates and Magic Puppy, but any of the series that have animals having child-like adventures in the age six to eight range should fit as well.2
