The Truth-Teller’s Tale is the second book in Sharon Shinn’s Safe-Keeper series. I enjoyed this one more then I did the first one, Shinn’s books are just comfortable to read. What they are not is particularly memorable. It’s Monday, I read this on Friday and most of the details are slipping out of my memory. This book is set about 15 years after the events of the first one, and it can definitely be read as a stand alone novel. Adele and Eleda are twins growing […]
Cast off the Shackles of Yesterday
The Suffragette Scandal is the book six in Milan’s Brothers Sinister series, of which I have read none of the previous volumes. The nice thing about romance series is that you can jump in and out of the series without loosing any context. I suspect there was a scene or two that would have been more enjoyable if I’d read the other novels, but I understood this one just fine. All in all, it’s an excellent romance novel and I enjoyed most of it. I […]
To Wish A Secret Safe
Sharon Shinn is one of my comfort read authors. I don’t find her books particularly ground-breaking and they don’t make me think too hard but they’re comforting to read and I enjoy slipping into the worlds she creates. This one though kind of left a bad taste in my mouth, which is a shame as there were parts I really liked. The book is really more world building then plot heavy, as nothing much happens beyond two characters growing up and discovering their place in […]
To Close the Gates to Hell
Sacrifice is the follow up to Serpentine, and it’s a nice continuation of the story. It’s an enjoyable story, and the setting is unique and well developed. There were a couple of focus shifts in this book that cause me to side-eye it a little more, but I do still recommend it. Sacrifice picks up right where Serpentine leaves us. Skybright has agreed to journey with the immortal Stone and Zhen Ni and Kai Sen go back to their lives and try to move on with their […]
