For a moment, the world stopped.

This is a review for the fourth book in the Throne of Glass series. I listened to the audiobook version. First off, I really like the narrator. I think she adds a lot to the books in this series. (They are very long books and I think would become a bit tedious at times were it not for the dynamic narration.) Q: What do Omaha, Fox News, a blow up doll, Captain Crunch, and Ken dolls have in common? A: This amazing book! “Welcome to Omaha” Andy is an ordinary guy whose wife ran out on him. So he ran to New York City. He returns home upon receiving news of his grandfather’s deteriorating health and meets Daisy, a spunky girl who makes him her new project. “Something is wrong here. And not just the obvious stuff, like dildos, the trashed yard, and the fact that […]

Change my epitaph.

“He only wanted to live quietly, waiting for death to find his address.” Ferdinand is THE grumpy old man. His life has been a country song: wife left him, dog died, etc. What he doesn’t expect is a precocious young girl to move in upstairs and decide to make him her new project. She wants him to be happy and to live a better life (no easy feat mind you) and sets out to make it so, starting with getting him to clean his apartment! […]

A book with a very interesting plot setup and potential to go in an interesting direction could have been great… However, it quickly devolved into needing a less than stellar romance plot as do most of the worst in this genre. The premise behind this series is that there are humans which serve to ferry dead souls to the next world. Much like crossing the River Styx, but you know, updated! They have necklaces not boats… In order to feel better about their role in […]
