Things just keep looking darker and scarier for the Locke children

December 31, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

SPOILER WARNING! This review may contain some spoilers for the plots of the two volumes in question.  In volume 4, Keys to the Kingdom, the three Locke siblings are still fighting against the Dark Lady, whose inhabiting the body of the person they think is their friend Zach. He’s posing as Kinsey’s affectionate boyfriend and Tyler’s loyal friend, trying to get one of the siblings to reveal where the crucial and powerful Omega key is hidden. Saga, Vol. 8

December 31, 2017 by The Chancellor Leave a Comment

“Saga, Vol. 8” is a short intense episode in the ride that is the Saga world. In the first volume of The Wicked + The Divine we are introduced to Laura, a seventeen-year-old from London who is utterly devoted to the various recently incarnated gods, who appear as rock stars of various genres all over the city. After […]

Rook

December 31, 2017 by The Chancellor Leave a Comment

Sharon Cameron’s “Rook” is a futuristic dystopian fantasy novel that almost retells “The Scarlet Pimpernel”. It also asks the question, could what has already happened happen again? There were a lot of layers to this novel which made it interesting and hard to put down. However, with so many layers, there was a danger that they wouldn’t all pay off. Retelling “The Scarlet Pimpernel”, now called the Rook, with a female protagonist was interesting and I thought was refreshing take on the classic. Sophia Bellamy, […]
