If the mysteries of Iris and Lavandula are not revealed, we have a problem

This is a good series. I like the world set up and I like most of the characters. And there’s one more, soon to be released volume to complete (I hope) the various narrative threads. The Split Worlds series is set in world where everyday normalcy exists, and is called Mundanus. But there’s 2 further dimensions; Exilium, where the Fey have been exiled to (get it?), and the Nether, where humans live who interact with the Fey and are stuck in time, literally and socially. […]

A shapeshifter tale of violence & confusion over the ages

Unfortunately, life happened, so it’s been a while since my last review. It took me an extra month to finish the last 60 pages of The Devourers! I did participate in our Cannonball Read book club discussion on time. Better late to review than never, I say. ;)  The Devourers was on several 2016 year end lists. First of all, Wizarding community, have you ever heard of a Diet Coke? A healthy percentage of the Hogwarts population are either Muggle born or have one Muggle parent. Are you telling me, everyone got together and decided they were just going […]

A Conjuring of Light – consumed at nearly light speed

April 27, 2017 by Dome'Loki Leave a Comment

On April 20th I went to see the always highly entertaining John Scalzi at my local independent bookstore.  While waiting for him to autograph several books, I was perusing the shelves as the line slowly wound through the store.  When I got to the Fantasy “S” section, the spine of A Conjuring of Light, third book in the Shades of Magic series, smacked me in the eyeballs.  A Conjuring of Light is the sequel to A Gathering of Shadows, which I reviewed last year.  When I found AGoS it was […]
