cbr10bingo… Backlog BINGO #2 I got this on my Kindle on March 20, 2013. That’s over five years ago. I think it’s the first Kindle book I ever bought? I don’t know why it took me so long to read it. I guess I heard some stuff about how Temple Grandin was involved in helping to create humane slaughter practices, and I didn’t want to read about animal slaughter, even if it was humane. It turns out that only small parts of a few chapters talk […]
Bad-to-the-bone
Bad Guys in Intergalactic Gas is the fifth book in the Bad Guys series. And the first one I read. And of course, it is about…. farts. Okay, I was a 10-year-old-boy in a former life (I have proof as four years ago, my then 10-year-old nephew and I were both laughing over a “doo-doo” joke….). Aaron Blabey must be a 10-year-old boy, as he speaks their language. Well, the langue of 7 to 10-year-olds as this is aimed at them. The humor is basic […]
Lucky 13
Wade Bradford has created something subtlety different with There’s a Dinosaur on the 13th Floor. It has some interesting twists (the story comes full circle by the end). The counting aspect is surprisingly fun. I was not really aware of that until a couple floors up and then was, “DUH! It is part counting book.” The ending has its charm (that afore mentioned twist). Kevin Hawkes adds a delightful touch to the story with their illustrations. He is one of those artists that you can […]
Cuddle up Hedgie Lovers there is a new adventure in town!
The Snowy Nap is very classic Jan Brett. You will either LOVE IT or will be “This is okay.” There is little to no “middle ground” to the liking or disliking of the book. However, even if the story does not grab you, as for many people and many of her books, the best part of the story really are Brett’s illustrations. They are worth the price of admission! The story is sweet: our hero Hedgie does not want to take a winter nap this […]
