My biggest complaint is what makes this book so important

My biggest complaint about Being Jazz is that Jazz Jennings is such a typical teenage girl who writes like I imagine most 15 years old girls do- lots of exclamation points, humble bragging and boy craziness- which was at times a little grating.  But this complaint is its biggest strength because Jazz Jennings isn’t a typical teenage girl- Jazz Jennings was born Jayron and began her transition from biologically male to presenting as female before she entered Kindergarten. I just really, really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the positive upbeat attitude of the author, I enjoyed how youthful she sounded while remaining put together and intelligent, I enjoyed the many, many exclamation points, and I absolutely love that that this book is available for tweens and teens to read to help understand other people in their community better. “Change happens through understanding, and one of my biggest hopes is that our next generation of kids will grow up in a world with more compassion.” […]
