Velvet…if you please (don’t murder me).

August 26, 2018 by ardaigle 2 Comments

You know how there are just too many strong female secret agents to choose from, in the same vein as James Bond or Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne, or raspy Liam Neeson, or raspy Jason Staham or whoever Tom Cruise is in the Mission Impossible movies? Except, like, not. What I’m saying is, women are hurting for representation in this genre, and the Velvet series is here to fill that gap and make you very very happy. The Man Who Laughs

May 2, 2018 by Halbs Leave a Comment

Brubaker’s The Man Who Laughs is generally highly regarded as a great Joker story. I don’t get it. Maybe I don’t get the appeal of the Joker, because I also didn’t like Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum and people lose their minds over that one, as well. Well, it’s up to you. It sounds like Archer’s ISIS, but without the loveable crew of weirdos, incompetents, and Lana. If it were, Velvet would be Lana masquerading as Cheryl. Velvet wasn’t always behind a desk. When a current operative and a retired operative are murdered, Velvet finds herself framed and needing to call on her […]

Death by Eyeball

January 24, 2017 by emmalita Leave a Comment

Original Sin was a Marvel Comics miniseries. I read the collected 8 issues of the main story. There were also tie in issues, which I did not read. Original Sin hits a weak spot in my recent comic book hobby. I started reading comic books two years ago, mostly because of the MCU movies. Despite that, I’ve mostly stuck to single character series like Ms. Marvel or Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye run. Marvel characters have a long and complicated history that I barely understand. I might […]
