You’re gonna miss each and every shot you can’t be bothered to take

August 11, 2016 by Malin 3 Comments

4.5 stars I didn’t know a whole lot about Hawkeye outside of the Marvel comic book movies, where he’s clearly an excellent bowman and reclusive family man, but also Black Widow’s wise-quipping sidekick. I’ve heard good things about Matt Fraction’s run on this comic for years, and since it was on our shelf, this summer seemed like the right time to finally check it out. I’m so glad I did. A Cool New Hero for Young Girls?? I Can Get Behind This

August 10, 2016 by Lisa Bee 3 Comments

Situated within the Marvel comics universe, comes a new young hero by the name of Lunella, or “Moon Girl”. And boy, is she cool in the nerdiest way possible. At least, I think so, despite the fact that all her classmates think she is a bit of a weirdo. Lunella is a young, genius inventor (not unlike Peter Parker in the “Amazing Spiderman”), but Lunella is terrified that one day she is going to become a mutant like the X-Men, which would make her a […]

Even without David Tennant, these books get a big thumbs up.

Like everyone else in the world who has Netflix, my husband and I binged Jessica Jones last year. And we loved it. I’m not a huge Marvel person, so to me, that was a big deal. I’ve only seen one of the Avengers movies, I hated the two Thor movies that I saw, thought the first Captain America was a bore (although, I quite liked the second one), and have abstained almost completely from the X-Men ouevre. And I hated Daredevil on Netflix. Couldn’t even […]

You Mean Sharon Carter is Actually an Awesome Agent and Not Just a Forced Romance??

June 23, 2016 by Lisa Bee Leave a Comment

I will admit that when it comes to comicbooks (and especially well-established characters), I have read far less than I would have liked. They all have so much history and so many appearances that it’s hard to keep up or even know where to start! Therefore, a lot of my knowledge of these characters has come from just looking things up, talking to friends who are also into these worlds, and ultimately watching the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Along those lines, I must […]
